The Great Divide
Two weeks ago we found out that a new ward was being created in our stake. The stake presidency announced that with the addition of a new ward, there would be some large changes to all of the other wards in the stake--"no bishopric will be left untouched", they announced.
Yesterday we found out what the changes were... and it turns out that we get to be in the brand new ward (the Canyon View 3rd ward). About 1/3 of the families from our old ward got moved into this new ward, along with about a third of each of two other wards. And a very small number of families from one more ward. One nice thing about it, is that we'll get to meet in the church building that's closer to us--nearly right across the street from our house, in fact.
This new ward, combined with the merging of the branch with the ward in La Crosse, makes the fourth unit we've been in in the past 7 months. At least this time everyone else is new, too! It's going to be interesting--everyone only knows about 1/3 of the ward, there are no Primary teachers yet, no Sunday school teachers, and so forth.
