Trips

I was in Pittsburgh all last week, for the annual "March Meeting" of the American Physical Society. I presented a talk, as did my student Benjamin Heaton, and my other student Mitch Jones had a poster. The trip home was eventful, as we got bumped twice (voluntarily), and ended up with $700 in travel vouchers. (Each.) Plus, we got to spend half a day in Atlanta, where Benjamin and I both had family (parents/siblings for him, sister/brother-in-law for me).

Pauline and I decided to use some of our travel voucher to get airline tickets to California during the kids' spring break. Since I don't have any classes this semester, it will be one of the few times when I can take off when the kids are out of school. So, we're going to Disneyland! :-) And probably at least one or two other places. Still undecided as to where else we should go--leaning towards Legoland, but also considering San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and Universal Studios.

Quote of the day, from a review of a car-driving ride in Legoland: "They don't allow wreckless driving on the course..." The unintended completely opposite meaning made me smile.

Comments:
legoland was an annual trip when my sister lived in irvine. we went three years in a row and the kids loved it every year. never wanted to try anywhere else including disneyland.

You will have a wonderful time! If you're going to be there long enough, I'd get the Southern California CityPass -- it's cheapest at Costco, and includes 3 days at Disneyland, 1 at SeaWorld, 1 at the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park, and 1 at Universal Studios.

In any case, have fun!
