Grand Canyon Trip pictures, part 2

As mentioned, we camped Tuesday evening. Then Wednesday morning, bright and early, we decided to do our big hike: down into the Grand Canyon, as far as we felt like we could go. And back up again, obviously. We took the Kaibab Trail, the only available one for going into the canyon.

My youngest daughter, displaying her natural talent for being photogenic.

This was the view from close to the top of the trail.

Roughly a quarter of the way down the trail now (relative to how far we actually went).

If you enlarge the photo, you can see the trail way down below, just to the right of the cleft. We didn't go quite that far down.

Not too many pictures of yours truly, so here's one for the record.

Cool cliffs, no? This is looking left...

... and this is looking right.

Pauline didn't feel like hiking all the way down to the "Supai Tunnel", but Leslie and Emily were game. The tunnel is the point at which the mule trains stop, I believe. It took us about an hour and a half to hike down to it, and perhaps two hours and fifteen minutes to hike back up.

This is just uphill from the tunnel...

... and just downhill from the tunnel.

I was impressed at my camera's zoom ability. You can see this bridge in the previous two shots.

Back through the tunnel, and back on our way uphill to Pauline and the trailhead.
