Labview programming

A week ago I decided I needed to buckle down and learn how to program seriously in Labview. All of the programs controlling my equipment at work uses it, and while I've had students to do the programming up till now, I can't always count on the students to be available if something happens in the lab and we all of a sudden need a new or revised program.

So, here's a program I wrote today; it finds the prime factors of any number (from scratch, it doesn't use any prime number tables). primefactors.exe

Bragging on Leslie

Leslie was in the county MathCounts competition Saturday. The team from her school, of which she was a part, finished second in the county! Leslie finished fourth in the county in one of the two individual events! She got two trophies as a result. It's a competition that includes eighth graders, so that made her accomplishment even more impressive.

Pauline's been teasing Leslie unmercifully about this (if teasing is the right word)--telling relatives, people at church, and even strangers in the restaurant where we had a celebratory dinner on Saturday night.

Draper temple

A week ago today, I got to play piano for a family string quartet, for a couple of hours as part of the (ongoing) Draper temple open house. We were situated in the adjacent church building which served as a reception area.
